Kris
Ennis, the owner of the farm, prefers to teach the youngest lead line and
walk-trot riders. Kris has been riding since she was a child and owned her
first horse at the age of 11. She learned horse care by feeding and mucking
out stalls for reduced board for three years at Cedar Falls Stables in
Fayetteville, NC. In college, Kris took classes in equitation and
dressage, but otherwise took a break from riding to work on her engineering
degree. She moved to North Potomac, Maryland where she exercised polo
ponies and other horses whose owners were afraid to ride for various
reasons. Kris took a second break from riding after the birth of her first
child. She resumed riding seven years later in Ijamsville, MD when she
purchased Ariel, a Hanoverian/Thoroughbred Mare and started training with
Rick Pelicano. In 2000, the Ennis family moved to Bennett Point Road, and
Kris opened Ennisbrook Farm when she found the area lacking in child
friendly barns for her own children to ride.
